The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department announced five new positive cases today (Wednesday, April 29) in its four-county service area, including one new case in Thurston County to bring its total to four so far.

The new cases within the NNPHD include four males in ages ranging from 20 to 64 and one female in her 50s.

Public health investigations are in process, close contacts are being identified and will be asked to quarantine and isolate. Of these cases, one appears to be community spread — meaning that the source of their exposure can't be traced to travel or close contact.

As of Wednesday, there have been 246 people tested and there are 19 total positives within the district (Cedar - 4, Dixon - 9, Thurston - 4 and Wayne County - 2).
