Subway in Pender now owned and operated by Murphy family

The Subway in Pender has changed hands.

Mike and Tanya Murphy of Homer have made the local sandwich restaurant their first franchise. The couple has also owned and operated their own trucking business for many years based out of Homer.


NEMA has announced federal disaster aid that includes Thurston County

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced that there is a funding opportunity available for Hazard Mitigation in Northeast Nebraska.


NENCAP plans WIC and immunization clinic in Pender on Monday, Aug. 21

Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership of Pender will hold the Pender WIC and Immunization clinic on Monday, August 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NENCAP at 603 Earl Street.


Peters will compete nationally in FFA Turf Grass contest

Braden Peters, member of the Pender FFA Chapter and son of Matt and Pam Peters of Pender, was named the Nebraska FFA winner in Turf Grass Management-Entrepreneurship/Placement recently.


Pender is home to a princess

Annika Jensen, far right, earned the title of “Little Princess” of the Dakota-Thurston County Fair last week after winning a competition held at the fair grounds exhibit hall in South Sioux City. She is the daughter of Nick and Susan Jensen of Pender.
